Features

While the ParaEq MKII Deluxe is designed to work beautifully with any instrument, the Bass ParaEq is purpose-built for bass players—with features specifically engineered for low-end clarity and control:

Hi-Z Input for Piezo Pickups
Piezo-equipped instruments—like upright basses—often lose low-end when paired with standard guitar pedals. The Bass ParaEq features a 10MΩ high-impedance input to prevent that signal loss, preserving your full frequency range and avoiding the tone-sucking high-pass filter effect caused by impedance mismatches.

Balanced Output
The Bass ParaEq includes an auto-detecting balanced output, which supports TRS cables (or XLR via adapter) for long cable runs without signal degradation. It can be used at the end of your pedalboard or as a DI-style output for studio or live rigs.

Bass-Tailored EQ Ranges
The frequency bands on the Bass ParaEq are tuned to bass fundamentals—with ranges focused around 40Hz to 350Hz.

Its low-pass filter sweeps from 22kHz all the way down to 215Hz, perfect for rounding off highs or creating synthy warmth.

And the dynamic low shelf adapts as you boost or cut, giving you intuitive control over the bottom end—like a hi-fi system that knows what your tone needs.

Yes—with the right setup, the Bass ParaEq can act like a DI and send your signal directly to a mixer, audio interface, or front-of-house system using its balanced output.

Here’s what you need to know:

  • The Bass ParaEq’s output automatically switches to balanced when you plug in a TRS cable.
  • If you’re going TRS to TRS (e.g. into a balanced line input), you’re good to go—no additional gear needed.
  • If you’re converting to XLR (e.g. using a TRS–XLR cable or adapter), your mixer or interface might assume you’re sending a mic-level signal. But, the Bass ParaEq outputs an instrument-level signal by default—which is hotter than mic level, and can reach line level if you’re using a lot of boost. In that case, make sure the input you're connecting to is rated for line level signals or includes a pad/attenuator in order to reduce the level.

So yes, you can totally use it as a DI—but treat it like a studio-grade line-level box, not a traditional passive DI.

The Bass ParaEq features a unique dynamic low shelf filter designed specifically for shaping bass frequencies in a musical, intuitive way.

Unlike a traditional low shelf (which boosts or cuts everything below a fixed frequency), the Bass ParaEq’s dynamic low shelf adapts based on how much you boost or cut. The more you turn the knob, the higher the break frequency moves—giving you a broader, more natural contour as you dial it in.

This lets you:

  • Gently thicken the low end without getting muddy
  • Remove boom without hollowing out your tone
  • Shape your lows how they actually sound, not just how they measure on a graph

The result? A smoother, smarter low shelf that feels like it’s responding to your ears—not just your settings.
